Photoswitchable polyurethane based nanoaggregates for on-command release of noncovalent guest molecules

The self-assembly of light responsive amphiphilic polymers has been great interest in spatially and temporally controlled drug delivery applications. In this article, we report the design, synthesis characterization main chain azobenzene polyurethane as well its aqueous milieu. This polymer self-assembles into micellar nanostructure (investigated by dynamic scattering scanning electron microscopy imaging) shows hydrophobic guest sequestration with high encapsulation stability (probed FRET experiment). photoswitching (trans-to-cis) these nanoaggregates investigated irradiation UV (λ = 365 nm), which results significant change environment molecular arrangement core. leads to encapsulated release a manner probed UV-vis spectroscopy. Furthermore, demonstrated tumor-relevant pH (∼6.5-6.8) induced surface charge modulation (neutral positive) zeta potential measurements. pH-specific modulation, believe, will have impact development systems for targeted molecules.
